ADA Monitor

How it works

Four steps. On repeat.

ADA Monitor runs a continuous loop: find it, sort and group, fix and verify, approve and deploy. Here's what happens at each step — and what never happens without you.

Find it

scheduled + change-triggered

ADA Monitor reads your rendered storefront the way assistive technology encounters it — the real pages your customers see, not just the source files. Checks are mapped to supported WCAG 2.2 A and AA criteria, with Shopify-specific detection for the patterns themes actually produce.

Monitoring runs on a schedule you configure. And because storefronts don't wait for schedules, Shopify webhooks trigger targeted rescans when your theme, products, or content change.

Sort & group

evidence → owned work

Raw findings are useless at 2,000 rows. ADA Monitor groups them by their shared source — the one Liquid snippet behind forty broken pages — and writes them up in language a website manager can act on.

Every work item gets an ownership lane: store content, theme code, a third-party app, or a human design decision. No dead-end "manual review required" labels; every lane has a next step.

Fix & verify

draft theme · checked · human lane

Eligible fixes are written into an unpublished copy of your live theme, as exact diffs you can read line by line — then checked right there, against the same criteria that found them. Nothing touches the theme your customers are looking at.

Judgment-led work — contrast, layout, focus treatments, brand expression — is never auto-changed. It arrives in the human lane with evidence, affected pages, and options.

Contrast decision → routed to your brand team

Approve & deploy

your approval · goes live · recorded

Your approval rules decide what ships on its own and what waits for a click. Approved changes go live on your schedule, with a rollback path standing by if anything looks wrong.

Evidence, proposal, approval, change and verification stay linked as one record, so you can always show what happened and when.

Then the loop starts again, because your store already changed while you were reading this.

The boundary

What never happens without you.

Trust is mostly about what a system refuses to do. These are our refusals, in writing.

Publish to your live theme uncontrolled

Changes are prepared in an unpublished copy. Release happens within the approval rules your team configured — and those rules are yours to change.

Touch code inside third-party apps

We don't reach into vendors' embedded scripts. Those issues are flagged with the owner and a practical next step instead.

Make brand and design calls

Color, layout, focus styling, and experience decisions arrive as decisions — with evidence and options — not as surprises in your storefront.

Promise legal outcomes

Nobody can truthfully guarantee compliance or lawsuit immunity. We give you a documented, verifiable program — which is what good-faith effort actually looks like.

Automated testing can identify many important barriers, but it cannot determine complete WCAG conformance or replace qualified human review and usability testing with disabled people. ADA Monitor supports ongoing monitoring, remediation, verification, and evidence — it is not a certification or a legal determination.
